Broadly, I am interested in species' responses to novel climates. I use digitized species distribution maps and occurrence data to evaluate niche expansion for non-native species and look for traits that may be drivers or barriers to niche expansion. Additionally, I use seeds from wild populations of Lactuca serriola to investigate genetic variation and local adaptation along climatic gradients. Lactuca serriola is further used in a resurrection study combining space-for-time and experimental methods to investigate climate change adaptation over 44 years.
